Warner Bros to Sell Movies Using File Sharing Sites
The `if you can`t beat them join them` trend in the media world continues with Warner Bros. studios signing a deal on Monday with the online site Guba. This is the second deal that Warner Bros. has reached with elements that once where considered as Warner Bros. worst enemies.
The Hollywood studio will distribute some of its top selling movies through the services of the site, where people can find content that ranges from homemade video up to illegal copies of mainstream movies. Warner Bros. previously reached an agreement with BitTorrent Inc. to sell movies using its technology. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment plans to make about 200 of its films and TV shows available for purchase at BitTorrent. Videos purchased from BitTorrent cannot be copied to DVDs.
The movie industry is looking at the mistakes made by the music industry and tries a different approach. Instead of fighting new technologies and the needs of customers, elements in Hollywood are working to find ways to integrating new distribution technologies into their businesses.
