Web Browser War Continues
Since the launch of Mozilla`s Firefox on 2004, we constantly hear about the `browser-wars` between Microsoft Internet Explorer and the rest of the competition, and the next battle will be the fight for the best-looking browser. That`s right, the next stage in development for all browsers is a massive facelift. Both Mozilla and Microsoft realize that people use the web differently than a few years ago, and that changes must be made.
Web browsers are no longer used for watching web pages anymore. People use (and will use) their browser to run internet-based application, conduct online transactions and consume various types of content. New needs call for new standards, and that`s why the companies are aiming for change. "IE6 was easily the best browser available in 2001," said Dean Hachamovitch, Microsoft`s general manager for IE. "The challenge is people use the Web a lot of differently now. Search engine usage, there`s a lot more of that now. Safety, there`s a lot more malicious intent on the Web right now."
The new versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla`s Firefox will focus greatly on web security and online safety. Home and business users are very concerned with online fraud, and with online transactions becoming more popular, browser developer must provide users with better and safer tools.
