Google Makes Headquarters Permanent for $319 M
Google buys the "Googleplex" for $319 million making its Silicon Valley headquarters company`s property. Google is currently based in Mountain View, California and decided to make its current building complex into their permanent headquarters location. Google moved into the complex back in 2003 and dominated the Internet from their nearly 1-million-square-foot location. Google now needs the approval of the city of Mountain View, which holds ground leases on the land.
Former residents of the complex were not as successful as Google. The building served as Silicon Graphics Inc`s headquarters, but the latter had to vacant the premises to save money. Google doesn`t even have to save any money with revenues keep rising the more products for different markets are being released all the time.
Google is leading the online search engine market, and recently announced that they will enter new markets as well. Google is facing fierce competition from Microsoft on home users attentions with both companies releasing desktop applications that enhance online experience. With new developments form both companies we will see the competition continues and the fight between the two giants will expand to other markets.
