eBay to Launch New Ads System for Auctions

The online advertising craze is getting everyone and now eBay is looking into advertising auctions from their site of other sites. The new advertising system will be keyword oriented and will promote auctions on other website. eBay will make website affiliates that will run contextual ads for eBay auctions in exchange for profit percentage. eBay is following other Internet giants such as Google and Yahoo who are already using keyword oriented promoting systems.

Although eBay is following a Google concept, their system is very different from Google`s pay-per-click one. The new system will benefit eBay customers only and will not serve as an all-purpose advertising tool. The program is titled `eBay AdContext` and will become available in the coming months.

"We want to increase the number of times buyers come to particular sites, and it is a way for Web sites to get an additional monetization stream," Swaaij said of the affiliate marketing drive, one of scores of ways eBay is now encouraging Internet developers to build eBay functions into independent Web sites.
