Google Acknowledged Censorship Criticism

After taking a lot of heat from media watchdogs, Google co-founder Sergey Brin acknowledged that Google has compromised its principles by working together with the Chinese censorship. Sergey said that Google is currently readdressing the issue and will make decisions regarding the search giant`s presence in China soon.

Brin said that Google has complied with the Chinese censorship only after its services were blocked throughout China. "We felt that perhaps we could compromise our principles but provide ultimately more information for the Chinese and be a more effective service and perhaps make more of a difference," Brin said.

Google`s co-founder has also addresses online privacy by saying that Americans misunderstand the limited safeguards of their personal electronic information. "I think it`s interesting that the expectations of people with respect to what happens to their data seem to be different than what is actually happening," he said. Brin said that government involvement in online information is becoming stronger and that Google battled the U.S. Justice Department before regarding its users` online information privacy.
