Symantec Offers Quick Solution for Discovered Flaw
After analysts discovered a flaw in their highly acclaimed anti virus software, Symantec announced that the flaw has been corrected and that all of the versions of it`s computer security applications are safe and trustworthy. Symantec provides security services for the largest corporations and to the U.S. government. Many people can now breath calmly as things return to normal.
The flaw enabled hackers to break into computer running Symantec software and steal data form it. Symantec is now providing a patch for their software so users are able to fix the flaw and keep using the same version and setting that they are currently running. Symantec`s response was extremely fast, and while other software manufactures take long time to respond Symantec gave a quick solution.
The patch is available online through Symantec`s Live Update technology, and all users are able to enter their site and download the patch. "Symantec is a company used to responding rapidly," said Vince Weafer, senior director for Symantec`s security response unit. "I can`t believe they were able to turn that around so fast, definitely a good job for them," said one of the leading experts of eEye, the company that discovered the flaw.
