Swedish Police Quarrels With Online Hackers
The Swedish police`s official web site had to be taken down of operation following a series for hackers` attacks. Investigators believe that these online attacks come as a retaliation act after Swedish authorities cracked down on a file-sharing web site that was running illegally. Swedish authorities are currently fighting allegations that recent acts against online operations were carried as a result of U.S. pressure.
The Swedish police web site was closed last week after hackers have flooded the web site by directing massive traffic to the single network site. Lars Lindahl, spokesperson for the police, said that they aren`t ruling out the possibility that the attacks were premeditated and linked to the police crackdown on The Pirate Bay web site last week. "It is quite possible, but that is only speculation," Lindahl said, adding a criminal investigation had been launched into the hacker attack.
During last week`s raid on the illegal file-sharing web site, The Pirate Bay, 10 different locations were raided across central Sweden and three individuals were detained. The Motion Picture Association of America applauded the raids, a fact that increased allegation of American pressure. The movie studios claim that $6.1 billion was lost due to piracy last year, and that the Swedish police actions are a great contribution to fighting online crimes.
