Find Your Way with Google

From now on, thanks to Google, Americans can view live highway traffic data on their cellular phones. Google offers its new service in over 30 major big cities and sends traffic reports, among other related information, to mobile phones. Gummi Hafsteinsson, Google manager for the mobile group said: "If you`re looking at the handset you can actually see the data change in real-time. With the new feature you have a traffic overlay with colors like green for free flowing traffic, yellow means slowing down, and red indicates a complete stop".

The users need to download Google Maps on their cell phones, then to select "show traffic" in the menu. The most updated traffic information floats directly to the users` mobile phone, and highlights the conditions on the covered commuter routes using red, yellow, and green overlays.

Users will also be able to plan their way according to the traffic, and also get directions. It is possible to store favorite searches and driving directions. The system can compare traffic conditions on different highways and help users to decide which way to take to avoid traffic jams. Many of the frequent business travelers found the service very useful.
