Bloggers Write about Themselves
A blog, according to Wikipedia, is "a type of website where entries are made (such as in a journal or diary), displayed in a reverse chronological order." According to the latest survey, most of the people who write in blogs usually don`t discuss there economics or politics, but rather write about themselves. Pew Internet & American Life Project reveal that the common blogger writes about his personal life.
More than 75 percent of bloggers said in the survey that their main purpose in a blog is to document their personal lives` experiences, for themselves and for other people. More than 60 percent of the surveyed stated their purpose is to share some useful skills and knowledge with people that read the blog. However, the bloggers that are getting the most publicity are not this majority of bloggers, but those who talk about topics covered by traditional media, such as technology, entertainment and politics.
Amanda Lenhart, senior research specialist at Pew, stated: "Blogs are as individual as the people who keep them, but this survey shows that most bloggers are primarily interested in creative, personal expression". It was also found by the Pew study that U.S. adult Internet users prefer to read, and not write, blogs. About 12 million, or 8 percent of the total number of adult Internet users, post blogs, while 57 million, or 39 percent of the online residents, read their contents.
