Lazy Users don`t Update Antivirus on Time
Eset Software, an antivirus developer, sponsored a survey among adult computer users, in which was found that while most home computer owners have antivirus software, the majority are not updating it on time because of the clumsiness of the update process. 88 percent of the survey participants had an antivirus program on their home computer, but 65 percent have postponed updating their antivirus program. As a result, 42 percent of the surveyed had one or another kind of infection on their computers.
38 percent said the updating process was too disturbing to their work on the computer, which is why they did not update the antivirus software. Some thought it would take too long, some thought it was not too important, and some did not know exactly how to do it.
Rick Moy, vice president of marketing for Eset Software, said: "In general, people don`t buy their computers to think a lot about security. If you had the experience once and it took a long time and you had to reboot, then it sets the tone for your future." However, the users are the ones that should be responsible to protect their computers while walking into the dangerous world of the Internet.
