Security Advisors Recommends Macs
In today`s world, there are many new threats out there. The time where a simple anti-virus program and a routine weekly checkup could solve your security problems ? are long over. There are new and much more sophisticated applications out there that by far more hazardous than any virus or worm that we already faced. A new study published on Wednesday sheds new light on the issue of online safety.
According to the study, the number of new worms and viruses that emerged on the internet during the first half of 2006 has dropped significantly, and was overshadowed by a new dangerous species of Trojan horses. Sophos, the company that conducted the study is advising PC uses to switch their systems for an Apple Macintosh one.
"Because there are so many poorly protected home computers out there running Windows, the hackers haven`t had to write Mac versions of their viruses," said Graham Cluely, senior technology consultant at Sophos. "There are far, far fewer threats on Apple Macs than there are on PCs," he said. "So home users who simply want a computer to do some Web surfing, exchange e-mails, take photographs, buy music, or make movies may find it`s a much simpler life from the malware point of view if they used a Mac instead of a PC."
