BenQ Unveils Blu-Ray Burner
The official format that will replace the current popular DVD format has not been decided on, but that does not interfere with tech companies pushing their selective formats into market. BenQ announced that they would launch their new product line that is base on the Blu-Ray technology this summer and issue a Blu-ray writer.
BenQ will become one of the first electronic companies that offer a Blu-ray burner. Their late summer launch will be simultaneously or even ahead of main Blu-ray inventors Sony, Pioneer and Philips. The price will not be cheap. The burner will sell for 799 euros before taxes. Although the price seems high, it is a very aggressive offer where other companies are expected to sell Blu-ray burners for $1,500 excluding VAT.
Blu-ray and HD DVD offer up to 50 Gigabytes of storage on a DVD sized disk. Most Blu-ray and HD DVD players will also play back and burn CDs and standard DVDs. There are more products on the way and the future (and quality) of our video consumption looks better than ever.
