Google Protects Its Search Engine Before Court
The world`s largest online information firm, Google, will have to stand before a judge and convince the court that its method for indexing and ranking web pages is legitimate. Google was sued by KinderStart in March for allegedly hurting its business by removing its site form Google`s index.
Most internet users today use search engines to find what they are looking for. Google, being the largest and the most popular search engine tool on the net, has an enormous influence on the websites people get to visit. If you are not on Google, you virtually do not exist. That is why KinderStart is suing Google. The company claims that being kicked out of Google`s index caused their business to suffer greatly.
"It`s a very important case for many reasons. Everyone uses search engines, so the question is: Are you seeing true and faithful results?" said Gregory Yu, KinderStart`s attorney. "Google shouldn`t have completely free range to be able to remove sites or hit them with a zero PageRank," he added, referring to the patented technology at the heart of Google`s algorithmic ranking. Google will face the court and will have to convince the judge that its algorithm is legitimate and that people find what they are looking for.
