IBM Presents: The Future
IBM predicts that a simultaneous computerized translator in the internet and the cellular phone and 3-dimentional internet will become reality within 5 years. The prediction announced by the company earlier this week, is based on systems that are in advanced stages of development in the company`s labs and research center and ideas raised in the giant brain storm, InnovationJam that IBM organized with over 150 thousand people from 104 countries.
The report indicates that intelligent cellular phones will recognize the location and voice of the user and offer him specialized services. In addition, cellular phones will allow people speaking different languages to talk. The machine will recognize the speech, automatically translate it and will voice the translation to the person on the other end of the line. The company believed that this service will be operational by 2012. Cellular phones will also be able to recognize different parameters, for example wither the user is available to receive a phone call or wither he is currently in meeting, in which case, the phone will automatically transform the message to a text message or voicemail.
Other technologies which are expected to be available in the near future are 3-dimensional internet. The users will view hologramic images and navigate through them to reach the content he seeks, much like a science fiction film. In medicine IBM predicts that sensors will be connected to the sick and will automatically indicate any changes to the patient`s physician. The company also believes that developments in nanotechnology are expected to bring the world new water filtering solutions which may solve water problems in the more arid point on the globe.
