Google Tells the World: This Is What You`re Looking For
Google, the world`s most popular search engine, has published its annual Zeitgeist. A list of the top 10 most searched key-words. Well, actually this isn`t a list of the most searched words but rather a list of the fastest growing search words. Google Vice President said that Google and its products were taken out of the list due to modesty. The algorithm used by Google is not completely clear and hasn`t been made public.
Nonetheless, leading the list is Bebo, which is a social networking website, designed to allow friends to communicate in various ways. It has developed into an online community where users can post pictures, write blogs and send messages to one another. The site has 22 million registered users, with 5 new members joining in every second. Second on the list is MySpace, which is a social networking website competing with Bebo. MySpace has 106 million members, with 2.6 members joining in every second. Third place is World Cup, this summer the best soccer (football) teams in the world competed for best in the world in the most popular sport on the globe.
MetaCafe, the internet video and media sharing community, was 4th. Radioblog, a web-based music player came in 5th and 6th came in Wikipedia, the free internet encyclopedia. The 7th search word was video and 8th was Rebelde, a Mexican telenovela. Mininova is 9th on the list. Mininoa is the biggest torrent website online, and last but not least, wiki, a type of website allowing that allows website users to edit, add and remove content.
