Security Analysts Look at 2007 with Worried Eyes
Online security analysts believe that 2007 will be the year of the hackers, and that a global "cyberwar" will be upon us all. This grim prediction is basing on the general turn of events in recent years. The online fraud industry is now a multi-billion pound industry, and hackers are constantly trying to steal personal information, corporate secrets, and other types of valuable information that can generate revenue in many ways. People are growing smarter, and the usual email scam isn`t working anymore.
The online security front that fights hackers did not cause them to forsake their ways, but only caused them to develop new technologies and strategies to penetrate through today`s online security systems. Analysts are saying that organized groups of online hackers are roaming cyberspace, and during 2007, social networking sites such as MySpace will be their main source of intelligence. Hackers will scour social networking sites and gather information for specific and focus attacks.
The problem with global online fraud is that hackers are working form different time zones and under different laws. What is considered as illegal in some countries might be on the border line in others, and working against a chain of online hackers, when every single one of them is acting under its own country`s laws, is highly difficult. The advancement in mobile technology is also a problem, and today`s hackers can use their mobile phones to perform illegal actions on the internet. Hopefully, the technological edge will remain in the hands of the security firms, and solutions will be given as problem arouse.
