New Worm Exploits Antivirus Breach

Any good strategist knows that the best place to hide is where no one would even think to look for you. A new malware application is implementing that very concept and uses Norton Antivirus, one of the most trusted applications on the market and the very leader of the anti-malware front, to attack computers. Titled "Big Yellow", the worm exploits a flaw in Norton Antivirus to launch digital attacks against computers that use the antivirus software from Symantec Corp.

The digital security firm, eEye, was the first to discover the flaw some seven months ago, but only now, hackers have found a way to use it for their advantage. A solution already exists, and Symantec released patch that closes the breach in May, but not all Norton Antivirus users have installed it. Most of the victims are corporate clients that did not hurry to install the needed patch. As there was no immediate danger, many of the people using the software believed that there was no need for the patch.

People that follow online security issues can recognize a clear line of progress by hackers, as they use new technologies and mainly new strategies to attack PCs around the world. Looking into security programs for breaches and flaws is highly difficult, but obviously yield the best results, as no one would question an antivirus for being dangerous. PC users must stay on top of the game by constantly updating the software on their computers. Online security is a constant race, and if you are left behind, then you might be putting your computer at risk. Update the software you are using, and ensure safe browsing.
