Amazon Answers IBM`s Suit With A Hand Full of Claims
Back in October, IBM has filled a lawsuit against online merchant Amazon claiming that the online super-shop is using some of the company`s technologies. IBM was referring to Amazon`s customer recommendation system, and other features of the site. IBM is saying that the company`s e-commerce technologies are being used illegally, and that Amazon is violating IBM`s patents. Amazon, on the other hand, did not stay put, and filled several counter-suits against IBM.
Amazon filled a number of suits against IBM saying that IBM was the one that was using Amazon`s technologies and not the other way around. The super-shop is claiming that it was the original inventor of the discussed intellectual property, and that if someone is using it illegally ? it is not them, but IBM. Amazon also says that there are other products of IBM that infringe on intellectual property rights of the company.
The people over at Amazon are obviously not too happy with IBM`s claim, as the list of counter-claims goes on. Amazon is also saying that customers of IBM`s WebSphere product are violating the company`s rights, and that IBM is using an aggressive ?yet ancient- approach of buying up patents and claiming unlawful rights. The suit states that IBM ""has never been seriously recognized for providing the nimble, fast paced developments and services needed to offer innovative e-commerce." It`s logical to presume that IBM will have plenty to say about Amazon`s claims, and that this is not the end of the story.
