Google Starts Testing Radio Advertising Service
After taking the text-based advertising world by storm, Google is targeting a new market ? the radio one. Google Adwords is the most popular online advertising service, and offers an interactive real-time monitoring interface that enables advertisers to get frequent information about the success of their campaign and change it accordingly. The service creates a platform where relevant is the name of the game and customers are only exposed to ads they would like to know about, by investigating the search terms that users enter in Google`s search engine.
Google wants to duplicate its success with radio advertising. The Mountain View-based company started testing the long-awaited radio advertising service. This is Google`s most comprehensive attempt at taking its online success into other markets that do not involve the web. Google will offer ads placement in over 700 radio stations all over the country. It`s expected that the search giant will gain a smaller market share than other established radio advertisement services, for now.
Google plans to automate the advertising service, like it did with the internet one. According to customer interest, the ads will be distributed to different stations during different times. Google will charge commissions from the stations for ad placement, in a similar business modal that the company operators on the net. The company is set at making an impact on the radio market, and hiring 1,000 employees for the new division is being seriously discussed. Google already works with 50 of the nation`s top newspapers, but the company had little success in making any real difference over the newspaper advertising segment.
