Communication Firm to Bring Social-Networking to Mobile Phones

The massive success of social-networking websites such as MySpace and YouTube is drawing companies from different markets offer similar services. Oz Communications, a privately-held maker of wireless messaging technologies, will announce a new tool that enables cellphone users to access social-networking websites and take an active part in the virtual communities of MySpace and YouTube.

The company already offers technology that enables users to access email and instant messaging services from providers like MSN, AOL and Yahoo over mobile devices. The new product will be available sometime in the first half of 2007, and heavy talks with social-networking websites` operators and leading wireless carriers are currently underway. The new platform will increase the number of people that are communicating through such sites, and improve the overall user experience for all. The fact that most cellphones are equipped with a digital camera, opens a world of possibilities for sharing. Social-networking sites are built on the notion of active participation by the users, and with a digital camera, people have more reasons to participate.

Although the mobile experience will not resemble the one on PCs, Oz Communications believes that the mobile experience will be entertaining and offer great value to the user. Social-networking sites are very popular, and taking such online interaction on the road is something that many people will like. The company expects that revenue from the new product will be as high as the revenue from all other online-to-mobile services that it offers.
