Two New Blogs Created Every Second
A blog-tracking site Technorati has found that the blogosphere is constantly growing, doubling every six months for the last three years, which means around 175,000 new blogs per day worldwide. Technorati`s 50 millionth blog was added on July 31, 2006.
Technorati CEO Dave Sifry, who has been tracking the blogosphere for four years now, was very surprised at the tremendous rate of growth for this quarter. He says in his own blog: "It is over 100 times bigger than it was just 3 years ago. Whenever I write about these statistics, I`m always asked by people, `Can it continue to grow this quickly?` Frankly, I can`t possibly imagine it continuing to grow at this pace - after all, there are only so many human beings in the world! It has to slow down."
English appears to be the most popular language among bloggers, according to the June statistics, at 39 percent. It is followed by Japanese (31 percent) and Chinese (12 percent). The most popular times of day for English language bloggers to post are between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
