Donate Phones and Raise Money at 911 Cell Phone Bank
RMS Communications Group Inc., has done it again. As one of the leading recyclers and re-marketers of used cell phones, the organization has established a new Web site. The purpose of this new site? 911 Cell Phone Bank, as it is called, will allow charitable organizations to receive 911 emergency cell phones and cash donations. Donated phones that have cash value may be converted to cash and the proceeds can be donated to the agencies.
RMS and one of its existing web sites, Cell For Cash, have been providing emergency cell phones as well as cash to various agencies for more than a year. In that time, more than $250,000 in cash has been donated to law enforcement agencies and other related organizations that may have urgent or unexpected financial needs for which funds are unavailable.
`We started providing 911 phones and emergency funding to law enforcement agencies more than a year ago, and the response from those agencies was so positive that we wanted to provide a way that our customers could get more directly involved in the effort,` said James Mosieur, chief executive officer of RMS Communications Inc.
Citizens may donate their old cell phones and request that phones and proceeds be directed to law enforcement agencies, government emergency management agencies, or to private charitable agencies that are recommended by law enforcement. To qualify, the private charitable agencies must provide both proof of non-profit status as well as a written referral from local law enforcement.
