Neo Retro - The Future of Mobile Gaming
Werd Interactive, Mobile games specialist, is giving the mobile games industry a huge jolt with the premier of its first Neo Retro titles, its new, entry level casual games brand. Neo Retro games are being sold online directly to players at the Werd`s website. Tag price - $1.99 each.
The launch titles for the Neo Retro range are all simple, accessible, fun and cheap enough to encourage everyone to pick them up and play. The first games to hit the market are: Flipper Flip, Meteor Storm, Neo Blackjack and Neo Poker. Each of the Neo Retro game supports a broad range of handsets from all of the major manufacturers Nokia, Motorola, SonyEricsson, LG, Samsung and Sanyo to ensure that players worldwide can play and enjoy the games, without having to own the latest and most powerful handsets. Werd has created a new price point for mobile games and a low-cost, entry point into the mobile games market for consumers who may have older mobile phone handsets or may not be willing to pay $5-$10 for the latest branded titles.
`There`s a lot of talk within the industry about making mobile gaming truly mass market,` says Randy Shepherd, the managing director of Werd, `But nobody seems to be doing anything about it. The same old genres, the same tired game play and the usual poor excuses for licensed titles are all flooding out, with no support, no recognition of older handsets and no real reason for non-gamers to even bother with them. What we`re doing is trying to bypass this apathy and fuzzy thinking and create a new entry point for every mobile phone owner. Yeah our games are cheap, but they`re simple, fast, fun and are not going to intimidate users. Neo Retro isn`t about pushing back the boundaries of gaming, it`s about creating a whole new market. If we`re serious about making mobile a truly universal platform for gaming, we`re going to have to get a hell of a lot more players involved. That`s what Neo Retro is all about. It`s a couple of bucks. It`s simple and fun. Tell your friends.`
