Students Send Satellite to Space

With great advancements in technology, even university students are getting involved in discovering the final frontier. A micro-satellite, Sseti Express, designed and built by 100 students from 10 universities in nine countries, was recently launched from Plesetsk in northern Russia. It is the first student-built satellite.

Graham Shirville, who masterminded the telecommunications side of the project, says it is essentially a demonstration payload. He says, `It`s the first European-built satellite that has been built largely by using the internet as communication between the teams.` Shirville adds, `The prime purpose is to demonstrate that students, with assistance from an organization like the European Space Agency, can design and build a satellite well-enough constructed to be flown with other passengers.`

The inventions and advancements made in technology are constantly created all over the world. These fresh and exciting innovations thrill the entire world. Who knows what will be sent to space next?
