Cell Phone Viruses

There was a time when only computers could receive crippling viruses. That is not the case today, however. Cell phones are becoming the next technology tool to be infected with debilitating viruses. These viruses are becoming more and more common among cell phones.

Houston television station KPRC reports teenagers are the most vulnerable to developing cell phone viruses because of the way they use the devices. The downloading of horoscopes, jokes, songs, pictures, games, and text messaging makes a cell phone susceptible to a spreading virus. And it doesn`t look like teenagers are going to stop downloading these items any time soon.

Recenty, in Washington, D.C., phone and wireless companies told government security leaders that a wave of viruses spreading across Asia and Europe is on its way to cell phones in the U.S. Now, an anti-virus firm is tracking eight different malicious cell phone bugs. Viruses can drain a cell phone user`s minutes, make long distance calls at the user`s expense or steal pictures and e-mail.
