iRadio Venture by Motorola and Univeral Music

Universal Music Group and Motorola have formed a partnership for a joint venture - iRadio. Universal music is scheduled to make its debut as the first company to offer its catalogue available on Motorola Inc.`s Motorola iRadio. Subscribers will find a variety of songs and a large selection of music to listen to with Universal Music.

The Hollywood Reporter says the commercial-free music and talk mobile phone service is likely to launch in January. iRadio will play music of artists like U2, Kanye West, Bon Jovi and Eminem. Motorola iRadio takes advantage of broadband Internet and Bluetooth technologies to convert mobile phone handsets into portable music players.

According to Hollywood Reporter, subscribers can choose from hundreds of pre-programmed channels. They will also be able to create channels using the music in their personal collection. iRadio will be available at about $7 a month.
