Pakistan`s First TDM Centre to Open



Pakistan`s first official Tools, Dies and Moulds Centre will open for business on August 14th, 2006. This event will open new vistas of development for the engineering sector of Pakistan. All of this was revealed during a meeting held in Islamabad with Mr. Jahangir Khan Tareen, the Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives. Mr. Almas Hyder also attended the meeting among others. He is the Chairman for Technology Upgradation and Skill Development Company.

He said that similar TDM centres would be set up in other industrial towns like Gujranwala. He hoped that the recent visit of TDM delegation to South East Asia and Korea would go a long way in the establishment of a state of the art facility for support to the country`s engineering sector. Tareen expressed his satisfaction over the working of TUSDEC especially with reference to the projects being executed for improvement of common facility centres and to the production more skilled manpower in the country.

Earlier, Chairman of TUSDEC, Mr. Almas Hyder briefed the Minister about the steps being taken by the company for the induction of the latest technologies in the country`s key industrial clusters. He hoped that the establishment of the TDM centre would help increase the share of the engineering sector in country`s exports which presently stood at 5%. He said that the visit of the TDM delegation to Singapore, Malaysia, Korea and Thailand had proved a good opportunity to learn about latest advancements in the field of engineering.
