Amazon to celebrate tenth birthday with profits
This weekend will mark 10 years since the Amazon website was started up, sparking a revolution in the literary and music sales world by turning people`s attention from brick and mortar bookstores to online options.
Even though the company is profitable enough nowadays (in earlier years this wasn`t the case), its stock price has fallen this year and is nowhere near the highs of the "bubble years". Started by Jeff Bezos in 1995, there were over $7 billion in sales thanks to the Amazon website last year. Only eBay had more.
This coming weekend Amazon will hold their 10th birthday party as a "Show of Thanks" featuring Norah Jones and Bob Dylan which will be streamed live on the Amazon website. Though the company`s future is somewhat in doubt Amazon has by most accounts earned the right to thank its customers for helping it to achieve success.
