Benefits of Different Sporting Activities
Whether they are done for physical health purposes, competition, or even just the fun, there is no doubt that sports are both beneficial and extremely popular. Advised at a young age and recommended by doctors, the following covers all the main sporting categories for anyone wishing to engage in sports:
Opponent ? sporting games in which you (and sometimes your team) compete against an individual opponent or other team to achieve a given task. Some opponent sports are played on specially designed courts, such as tennis, basketball, volleyball, etc. Other sports are played for combat purposes, and they include everything from karate and judo to wrestling and fencing. And finally, opponent sports can also be played in teams, in games including football, Australian rules, rugby, soccer, hockey, and more.
Racing ? sports in which the main objective is to obtain the best time. Human powered racing sports are those that require physical activity on the competitor?s behalf, such as swimming and sprinting. They can also be human assisted by means of equipment such as a bicycle, or alternatively an animal, such as in horse racing. Machine powered racing refers to those sports powered by man-made objects, like motor boats and racing cars.
Thinking ? games that require the participants to achieve a given task by means of strategy that is thought through during the course of the game. Examples include Chess, backgammon, and even some casino games such as Poker.
Achievement - this refers to sports in which a certain parameter is measured in a certain way. For example, high jump is measured according to height, IE ? who can jump the highest. Long jump is measured according to length ? who can jump the furthest. In weightlifting, the winner is declared as the strongest competitor. Target sports see accuracy as the best measure for this, such as Archery.
