Twenty Percent Chance Clemens Will Return to Pitch

Being arguably the greatest pitcher to ever throw a baseball, winning seven Cy Young awards and being only 44 years old will have rumors and guessing games about your possible return for yet another season float throughout the off season any time. This is especially true if your name is Roger Clemens and your nickname is The Rocket. Well, what are the chances that Clemens will return to pitch next season?

The pitcher has answered that question last week by giving himself just a 20 percent chance of return to the mound. Although his hometown team the Houston Astros and two former teams and rivals New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox would very much be willing to pay top money to have Clemens join at any part of the season, for a 24th professional season, he said chances are slim. In an interview to a Houston raqdio station, Clemens said his son, ?Koby asked me last night when we were working out, he was doing more of a workout than I was. I still told him 80-20 that I wasn`t going to play.?

Clemens has pretty much shut the door on many fans and teams? hopes to see him pitch again by saying ?I don`t want to play.? But he has certainly not shut down the rumor mill entirely. Expect guessing games about Clemens? return to continue floating in the air throughout the pre-season and regular season. With former teammates such as Derek Jeter contributing themselves to the mix. Jeter said last week on the chances Clemens will return: ?If I had to guess, I`d say he`s going to pitch this season. When? I don`t know. He might be a September call-up.?
