Kidd Off the Court Trouble

New Jersey Nets all star point guard Jason Kidd might be enjoying a terrific professional season on the court, averaging 14.3 points per game, grabbing eight rebounds and passing for 8.7 assists, and making his way to third on the all time career triple doubles list, his off the court affairs are drawing disturbing, even negative effect. Besides rumors of possible trades to other teams, Kidd has had to deal with a divorce claim from his estranged wife, Joumana Kidd and, most recently, accusations of serial infidelity and abuse.

Kidd and wife have been married for 10 years, during which, Mrs. Kidd says in divorce papers filed in January, the seven time all star physically abused her and was unfaithful on repeated occasions. Kidd?s lawyer responded by saying the allegations were ?bizarre? and ?will be proven false? in court.

Joumana Kidd seeks joint legal custody of the couple?s three children from the court. She wants that they live with her and enjoy child support, alimony and monetary compensation for the injuries and trauma she suffered. The language used in the 27 pages of details which Joumana has filed to the court is certainly disturbing, even if proven false as the point guard attorney insists it would. Punches, kicks and choking events are described, as well as a concussion Joumana suffered when attacked with a candlestick. The guard?s lawyer dismissed them in a statement in harsh words herself, saying they were ?retaliatory and gratuitously nasty.?
