Ronaldo Joins AC Milan
Thirty one year old Brazilian striker Ronaldo, also known as 1976), simply known as O Fen?meno (the phenomenon) has fallen out of favor with his Spanish club Real Madrid. Member of the World Cup champion Brazilian team in 1994 and 2002, three time FIFA World Player of the Year has grown tired of sitting on the bench under coach Fabio Capello. The Italian club paid 7.5 million euros for the player.
As he arrived in Milan and unveiled to the media and fans of the team, Ronaldo vowed to perform at his previous top level and regain the international credit he once so enjoyed. His goals in the new uniform include earning back his spot on the national team, which will require impressing the Samba Kings boss Dunga. Ronaldo played alongside Dunga in the past on the national team.
?I?m not finished,? Ronaldo said in a press conference. Out with a knee injury, then benched for the most part by Capello, Ronaldo scored only one league goal in seven appearances. In his previous four years with the team he scored no less than 82 goals in 120 matches. Milan can use his contribution, as it is a mere ninth in Serie A, carrying an eight point penalty for its part in the match fixing controversy of last year. "My objective is to get Milan in the top four," earning the club a spot in next year?s European league competitions, Ronaldo said.
