Pete Rose Bet on the Reds Every Night
Past baseball great and Cincinnati Reds manager Pete Rose has confessed he not only bet on his team, but bet on it ?every night.? Rose, 65, is still campaigning to enter the Baseball hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. With MLB record for career hits with 4,256 and three World series rings, Rose sees his place in the Hall. But revelations of his gambling adventures have so far kept him out. Such additional confessions seem only to dig his hole deeper.
The gambling stories are not new to the world of baseball, yet Rose seems eager to confess them time and time again. Two autobiographies and hundreds of interviews in the past 18 years since training the Reds, and he keeps coming out with more stories. This time he admitted he bet on his team to win not ??four nights a week? I bet on my team to win every night because I love my team, I believe in my team. I did everything in my power every night to win that game,? Rose told ESPN.
This stands in contrast to investigation findings that Rose did not bet on his team when certain pitchers started for the Reds, namely Mario Soto and Bill Gullickson. From denying he bet at all to the latest version, Rose has still some details to set straight. A place in the Hall of Fame, however, he is not expected to see from this all.
