Arsenal first win is Man U first loss

Manchester United had started the season with four successive Premier League wins and a win in the Champions League, five in total and a 100% success record. But the match against Arsenal Sunday and a late goal by Togo striker Adebayor brought an end to its success. Arsenal, who played without star striker Thierry Henry, had won its first game of the season, after having drawn two and lost one so far in its first three league matches.

Adebayor scored the only goal of the match in the 85th minute to cap a fine display from Arsene Wenger`s side, and earn the Gunners a deserving win. The club had missed several chances to take the lead earlier in the game, when they repeatedly found United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak prepared to defend his net. The Polish goalkeeper, who played his United debut, even stopped Gilberto`s penalty kick.

The only goal in the game came after Arsenal`s midfield player, Cesc Fabregas, stole the ball off Cristiano Ronaldo near the box. He then slipped a perfect pass to Adebayor, who flicked his shot past Kuszczak to give the Gunners their first win at Old Trafford since 2002. Although Ronaldo is being somewhat criticized for losing the ball, which led to the scoring drive, Ferguson said: "He lost possession because he will always try to beat men. That`s the kind of player he is and that`s the kind of player we want here."
