France Settles Score with Italy

It was defiantly closure for France as they took down Italy 3-1 on Wednesday, as part of the Euro 2008 qualifying stage. France and Italy met just two months ago on the World Cup 2006 final, where Italy won and took the title. Many people attributed France`s loss to the head-butting incident with Zidane that cause their captain to leave the field after receiving a red card, and see this match a justice being made.

`The perfect match is the one in which you score on every attack and that your opponents are unable to put you in danger. We came very close to the perfect match tonight,` the French coach, Raymond Domench said after the game. France is now five points above Italy, which had an awful start to their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign.

"Everybody was feeling great and technically we were well prepared for this outing. I hope that we will be capable to repeat such a performance. Beating the world champions always means something special. We have tamed two world champions over the last two months,` he added, referring to the 1-0 success over Brazil in the World Cup quarterfinals. `We can be happy and proud of ourselves.`
