NBA Broadcasting in China via Web
The Chinese public, in China, will be able to follow closely on the upcoming NBA season. Although the games will not be available through state television, 87 of them will be broadcast live via the Internet. The initiative is a joint effort by the Chinese internet companies nusport.cn and sohu.com and the National Basketball Association.
There are millions of basketball fans across China, and the NBA season is very popular. NBA-China Vice President, Mark Fischer, was quoted saying that due to the growing interest in China and the fact that millions of people will be watching the games, a decision to air them was made.
"With the development of the Internet technology and the co-operation with the Chinese Internet media, NBA hopes to get more basketball programs closer to the fans," Fischer was quoted as saying. The Internet has opened a window of opportunities for media suppliers looking to broadcast sporting around the globe. The specific program by nusport.ch and sohu.com will include one live show every Monday and Friday and an additional replay of the games on Wednesdays.
