Brazil Wins Over Argentina in Friendly

About 60,000 fans came to witness the clash between South American soccer powerhouses, Brazil and Argentina. It was expected to be a matched game, where both teams have a fair chance at winning, and many people believe that the match will end with a tie, but Brazil thought differently. Two goals by Elano, and a marvelous solo goal by Kaka sent Argentina back home soaring with a 3-0 defeat to the Brazilians.

"Of course, we expected to perform well," said Dunga, the Brazilian coach. "But not like this." Even the Brazilians were surprised by the easy time Argentina gave them. Argentina was showing great potential during World Cup 2006, and with Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez, two of the brightest young stars in the world of soccer, the game was supposed to tilt in Argentina`s favor.

"This match is not going to define everything," Dunga said.. "But it`s always good to beat Argentina." "We really never came very close to scoring and didn`t do much," said Alfio Basile, who was coaching his first game for Argentina since replacing Jose Pekerman following the World Cup.
