Rooney back in scoring shape
Wayne Rooney`s long 10-game scoring drought came to an end Saturday, when the Manchester United striker scored a hat trick in his team`s 4-0 victory over Bolton. Rooney`s scoreless streak started after he scored two goals in the Premier League season opener against Fulham on August 20. He did not score in either club or country matches.
Rooney scored the first of his three goals in the 10th minute and made it 2-0 six minutes later. Both were brilliant goals. His teammate Ronaldo scored the team`s third goal, before Rooney completed the hat trick in the 89th minute. United remains atop of the league with 25 points, ahead of Chelsea on goal difference. Bolton is third with 20 points.
"There has been a lot of talk by a lot of people over the last few weeks saying I couldn`t do it any more, stuff like that, so the feeling when the first goal went in was brilliant," Rooney said. It was the second hat trick in the 21-year-old Rooney`s career. His first was two years ago on his Champions League debut against Turkey`s Fenerbahce.
