US Basketball Coach Arrested for Drunk Driving

Sacramento King?s coach, Eric Musselman, was arrested over the weekend for driving under the influence of alcohol, several hours after his team won their game against the Utah Jazz team. At 2.00 am early Saturday morning, Musselman was pulled over on State Capitol. The California Highway Patrol performed three consecutive sobriety tests on the coach who failed them all. In the arrest report, his blood-alcohol level was 0.11-0.3 over the legal limit.

Eric Musselman, in his first season as the King?s coach, appeared extremely apologetic over the incident. It is common knowledge that he is not coping well with his recent divorce and this is what could have spurred such irrational behavior. However, Musselman?s club bosses are not particularly pleased over the matter, especially since it occurred during such an inopportune time. The club recently requested from city officials to build a new arena in Sacremento and residents are due to go to the polls on November 7th to vote on whether to increase local sales tax for this particular purpose or not. Musselman?s arrest will almost definitely affect the outcome of the request.

Musselman coached the Golden State Warriors for two years (2002-2004) before being fired. Being the son of the late basketball coach, Bill Musselman, he has extensive experience coaching the game, especially as a NBA assistant. Golden State Warriors, under Musselman, had one its most successful two-season stretches before Chris Mullin replaced him.
