Tillman Brother Speaks Out against the War

The brother of the late Pat Tillman, former NFL player killed in the line of duty by friendly fire in Afghanistan, spoke out viciously against the continuing war in the region. This was the first time that Kevin Tillman had his views publicly aired about the conflict in Afghanistan and Iraq. Both Pat and Kevin Tillman served as Army Rangers in the U.S. military after they joined in 2001.

Pat Tillman played defensive back for the Arizona Cardinals after graduating from Arizona State University. In 2001, after the September 11 attacks in New York and the Pentagon, Pat and his older brother, Kevin, felt the need to drop everything and join the military out of a sense of duty. In an interview before he turned down a contract with the Cardinals and was shipped off to Afghanistan, Pat Tillman said that he felt that football seemed ?stupid? in comparison to the problems faced by his country. In a tragic twist of fate, Tillman was killed by friendly fire on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border and the case is still under investigation after it was discovered that the military tried to cover up the reason of his death.

On the popular website, Truthdig.com, Kevin Tillman wrote honestly about his feelings towards the war and the US military in general. The older Tillman feels that those who run the country are ?narcissistic, virtueless and malicious criminals?. Tillman was discharged from the US army and his family awaits the results of the ongoing investigation into the death of his brother.
