David Beckham soon to become "Sir"
Former British national team captain, Real Madrid`s soccer star David Beckham is reportedly set to be knighted and become a "Sir" by British Queen Elizabeth on New Year. Already an MBE, Beckham would be recognized and honored for his services to soccer and for his community work. The 31 year old soccer player`s career has taken a downfall recently, left out of the national teams` roster and kept on the Madrid bench on several occasions.
While it is a top honor bestowed upon Beckham, he admitted his current situation is not favorable. In fact, Beckham is "unhappy" and "frustrated" at losing his place on the two teams. When expressing his concerns over his future, Beckham said he will come to conclusion only in five or six games, not before then. "So far it?s only five or six games as a substitute. If it was 10 or 12 that would be different."
Currently in negotiations for a contract renewal, since the current multi-million deal will expire at the end of the season, Beckham was confident he would receive a two-year offer. But losing his place has clouded the chances for him agreeing to such a deal, not wanting to sit on the bench for two whole years. Madrid coach Capello assured his star, saying: "He is in my plans," but rumors and guesses for the future are afloat.
