Hasselbeck out for three weeks
The Seattle Seahawks would rather forget Sunday`s game. In the game against the Minnesota Vikings, Pro-Bowler, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck strained his medial collateral ligament during a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He will not return to action before November 19, when Seattle plays the 49ers in San Francisco, missing at least three weeks in total. The loss, a 31-13 blowout, snapped a 12 game home winning streak for the Seahawks.
With the score tied early in the third quarter, E.J. Henderson got past a block from fullback Mack Strong and then swung the left side of his torso into Hasselbeck`s lower right leg. The quarterback`s pass was incomplete and he took the ground. Seneca Wallace, in his fourth pro year, took over throwing 14-25 for 134 yards in a losing effort. He will make the first start in his career Sunday at Kansas City.
Hasselbeck`s injury hurts the team in their run for a repeat appearance in the Super Bowl. Last year they made it to the final Sunday of the season, behind Hasselbeck and running-back Shaun Alexander. Now, only 4-2, Hasselbeck joins Alexander on the sidelines. Alexander, the league`s MVP and rushing leader last year, is out indefinitely with a broken foot.
