Manning explodes as Colts rally Redskins
The Washington Redskins were in the game for the first two quarters, even leading 14-13 at halftime. Two-time MVP, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning was knocked around and off his feet and even lost his helmet at one point. But then came the third quarter, and Manning in familiar form. It was his turn to knock the Redskins around, connecting with his receivers for three third quarter touchdowns on the way to a 36-22 victory.
Manning finished with a passer rating of 140.4, as he proved he is also a tough player. Manning finished 25-of-35 with four touchdowns. The Colts improve to 6-0 on top of the AFC. The Chicago Bears are the only other team unbeaten in the league, also at 6-0.
Indianapolis looked good as they continue to prepare for another title contention. Receiver Reggie Wayne caught seven passes for 122 yards and one TD, Marvin Harrison caught seven passes for 73 yards and two TDs, and kicker Adam Vinatieri was successful in all three field goal attempts. The Colts still have their coach to impress, though. Tony Dungy said after the game that in spite of Manning`s performance, "We?re just not totally sharp. We just have to be a little sharper."
