Federer is back, never went anywhere


Top-ranked, record-breaking, Roger Federer stepped onto an indoor tennis court for the first time in a while at the Madrid Masters Series Tuesday. The last time Federer played indoors was nearly a year ago, in November 2005. returning to Madrid after for the first time since 2003, Federer had 28 winners and broke Chilean Nicolas Massu three times for a 6-3, 6-2 victory.

The world number 1 tennis player has extended his winning streak to 15 games. He is also going after his 10th title of the year. Federer said of the match: "It`s always nice to beat the Olympic champion." He will face in the third round the winner of the match between Spain`s former No.1 Juan Carlos Ferrero and Robin Soderling of Sweden.

In his last inddors match, back in November, Federer lost a five-set match to David Nalbandian. Nalbandian trailed 5-2 in the third set against French Julien Benneteau before coming back to win 6-7 (4), 6-2, 7-5. Nalbandian faces Tim Henman in the third round. Would Federer continue into the Madrid Masters finals, he is expected to meet Spaniard Rafael Nadal.
