Famous Soccer Head Butt Book to Hit the Shelves


Even those people who aren?t soccer fans surely heard about the famous head butt in the final game of the 2006 World Cup soccer tournament, played out between Italy and France. The incident involved French player, Zinedine Zidane head butting Italian player, Marco Materazzi after the latter allegedly made an insulting comment to the Frenchman. The press has had a field day playing and replaying the famous incident and analyzing what it was exactly that spurred the head butt.

Since the event, popular culture has spawned jokes, videos and even a number one hit song in France regarding the words that were really muttered to Zidane which made him react so violently. FIFA sentenced Materazzi to a two-match ban over the comment, while Zidane received a three-match ban for his head butt. Now, Materazzi may finally be putting us out of our misery with a new tongue-in-cheek book that he has written entitled: ?What I Really Said to Zidane?.

The new book, due to hit the shelves in the near future, will feature 249 possible phrases that Materazzi may have said to Zidane. The joke book will be selling for 10 Euros a print and all proceeds will go to UNICEF. The book is expected to be a major hit in soccer circles and there is already talk that it will be translated into several languages for the benefit of fans worldwide.
