Alexander to miss two more weeks
Six weeks into the football season, and Shaun Alexander is wearing flip-flops. The Seattle Seahawks running back cracked a bone on September 24, but doctors now expect him to be back before the previous December destination. X-rays showed the bone, the MVP said, is healing. "Pain is gone," Alexander added.
In seven years as a pro, Alexander has never missed a game. By November 6 when he returns, he would have missed four. Leading the NFC-West with a 4-1 record, the team seems to be coping well without last year`s league rushing leader. Still, the Seahawks could get good use of Alexander, who ran for 1,880 yards and scored 28 touchdowns last year.
Team coach Mike Holmgren is sticking with backup running back Maurice Morris. On Sunday Morris ran for 74 yards, but lost a fumble at the Rams 11 with 2:54 remaining to kill what could have been a clinching drive. St. Louis took a 28-27 lead five plays later. Seattle won the game off a field goal 30-28.
