Bears still unbeaten after Monday Night comeback
The Chicago Bear were pressed into a tight corner in their game Monday night, trailing 23-3 in the third quarter. But their defense and punt returner came through for an amazing come from behind 24-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals, improving their record to 6-0. With two seconds left in the third quarter, the Bears broke out and went on to score 3 touchdowns, without their offense scoring any of them.
Bears quarterback Rex Grossman had a terrible game, throwing four interceptions and giving up two fumbles. This against the 27th ranked defense in the league. But the Bear`s defense ignited the comeback, with Mike Brown returning a fumble 3 yards for a TD and Charles Tillman returned another fumble 40 yards for a TD. The go-ahead score came on an 83 yard punt return by Devin Hester with 2:58 left.
The Cardinals had a chance to win the game, but kicker Neil Rackers, a pro-bowler last season, missed a 40-yard field goal attempt with 53 seconds remaining. He had three field goals earlier in the game, from 41,28 and 29 yards. "I`ve never been associated with a loss where it was apparent the offense couldn`t score a touchdown," said Cardinals coach Denny Green. "None of those plays should`ve happened. I take responsibility."
