Shaun Alexander to miss another week

The Seattle Seahawks` plans for the 2006 season suffered a set back on September 24, when League MVP Shaun Alexander cracked his left foot in a win against the New York Giants. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Wednesday that his team, 3-1 after five weeks, will play without the running back again when they take on St. Louis on Sunday.

Alexander will miss the game in spite of recent tests that show the crack in his foot has diminished. The next game will be October 22, against Minnesota, and the Seahawks will hope to have last season`s NFL rushing leader return then. Alexander is expected to give the Seahawks a boost to their offense, which haven`t scored a touchdown in two of four games this season.

Maurice Morris will make his second consecutive start for Alexander against the Rams. The fifth year running back has 101 yards on 33 carries this season, but has not scored a touchdown. The team has led the entire league in scoring last season with over 28 points per game, but is only 15th now, averaging 19.5 points. This in spite of coach Holmgren`s reputation around the NFL for being an offensive guru.
