A good night for NBA teams in Europe
Several NBA teams have traveled this fall to Europe to play pre-season exhibition games against European clubs. European stars playing for the American teams enjoyed a home-coming on several occasions. Such was the return to Paris for Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs, and for coach Mike D`Antoni of the Phoenix Suns a visit in Italy. Last night was fun for all NBA players, European or not.
The Philadelphia 76ers beat CSKA Moscow 85-71 behind 28 points from Allen Iverson. The 76ers are winners of the four-team basketball tournament. Samuel Dalembert added 15 points and 18 rebounds for the 76ers, earning him the compliments from team-mates. "If he plays like that, it`s going to be hard for anybody to beat us," Iverson said of his teammate.
Playing earlier Wednesday, for the third place in the mini-tournament, the Phoenix Suns broke out late in the game for a 119-102 victory over Maccabi Tel Aviv. Leandro Barbosa led all scorers with 27 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including 5-for-8 from three-points. Amare Stoudemire made his return to the Suns lineup after missing nearly all of last season with two knee operations. He had 11 points in 25 minutes. "The biggest thing is that we got Amare started back," D`Antoni said.
