Terrell Owens denies suicide attempt
An allergic reaction to pain medication or a suicide attempt? News reports on Wednesday reported that Dallas Cowboys` wide-receiver Terrell Owens was hospitalized. The scary headlines did not offer, however, an explanation for what got him there. Conflicting versions that were later released do not settle the dust much. In fact, the picture is still groggy.
Owens arrived at the hospital in an ambulance Tuesday night after the police received a call from his publicist, Kim Etheredge, who told emergency responders she was worried he was trying to take his own life because he was depressed. Later, at a Dallas news conference, she said it was wrong to report that Owens might ponder killing himself. According to the official report, paramedics found Owens in a daze and an empty prescription bottle at his side. Owens said Wednesday he had dumped the pills into a drawer.
Owens, on the other hand, said at the news conference that he became groggy after mixing painkillers he is taking for a broken finger and a lingering hamstring injury with supplements. He said the confusion likely stemmed from an empty bottle of pain medication found by his publicist, who was with him at the time and called 911. ?I was non-responsive when she made that call,? Owens said. ?She made the call out of her judgment for my well-being.?
